Life And Death Through Gaza's Tunnel Industry Egypt's campaign to shut down smuggling tunnels running under its border into the Gaza Strip threatens to throw thousands of Palestinians out of work in the Hamas-run enclave. The network of tunnels has been a vital lifeline for Gaza, bringing in an estimated 30 percent of all goods that reach the enclave and circumventing a blockade imposed by Israel and Egypt for more than seven years. Weapons are also smuggled underground and at least 10000 Palestinians are believed to work in the tunnel business

Palestinians Protest Across Region In Support Of Prisoners Palestinians protested Monday (February 18), throughout the West Bank and Gaza, calling for the release of prisoners from Israeli jails. In al Aroub refugee camp, on the outskirts of the West Bank city of Hebron, dozens of youths clashed with Israeli soldiers, hurling stones at the troops who fired tear gas and rubber coated bullets at the demonstrators.

obama has promised Palestinian state in the so-called 1967 borders: could this do him in TEL AVIV -- Now that he has secured his second term, President Barack Obama has already secretly pledged to the Palestinians he will press Israel into a new round of so-called land-for-peace negotiations, a top Palestinian Authority negotiator told WND. The negotiator said top members of the Obama administration told the Palestinians the US president will renew talks aimed at creating a Palestinian state in the so-called 1967 borders -- meaning in the West Bank, Gaza Strip and, notably, eastern Jerusalem. The negotiator further revealed when it comes to dividing Jerusalem, Obama wants to rehash what is known as the Clinton parameters.
