L.L. Bean has just added a third shift at its factory in Brunswick, Maine, in an attempt to keep up with demand for its iconic boot. Orders have quadrupled in the past few years as the boots have become more popular among a younger, more urban crowd.

Maurice El Medioni, an Algerian-born pianist who fused Jewish and Arab musical traditions into a singular style he called Pianoriental, died on March 25 in Herzliya, on Israels central coast. He was 95. His death, at a nursing home, was confirmed by his manager, Yvonne Kahan
