By M Ghazali Khan London: Hundreds of Indian diaspora from all over the UK gathered outside 10 Downing Street, the official residence of the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson in London on Sunday and marched to Indian High Commission, protesting against the brazen violation of human rights and the arrests and detentions of human rights activists in India. They held placards with a variety of messages on them and portraits of Hindutva leaders, including Yogi, Kapil Mishra, Yati Narsinghanand and several others, with the heading, Wanted, and a one-line description of their crime beneath it. One placard read, Silence is a crime.

At a time when globalization has successfully homogenized the nations of the world, one finds the value of preserving ones heritage intrinsic to the integrity of national identity given the osmotic tendencies of diasporas in acclimatizing to the culture they are immersed in at the present time. Such is the case with the Filipino American community born and residing on USsoil, with its ties to the motherland growing weaker with the passing of time due to their proximity from the motherland and their heavily-westernized upbringing, making it harder to touch base with their Filipino roots, let alone speak their mother tongue.

He paid rich encomiums to FeTNA functionaries and members, who announced a USD 1,500 cash reward to Tamil scholars Elankumaranar and Erode Tamilanban for their service to the Tamil language. He said Tamils have migrated to more than 90 countries, but Tamil Nadu remains their "home country".
