Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian president, has handed over a historic request to the United Nations, asking them to admit the state of Palestine as a full member. Speaking to Al Jazeera, Danny Ayalon, Israel's deputy foreign minister, said that the declaration of a state cannot be a unilateral one calling on the Palestinians to come back to the negotiating table.
