The Arab League's Peace Initiative Committee pledged to support the Palestinian bid for unilateral statehood at the UN next month. At a meeting in Doha on Tuesday, members of the committee approved a work plan to build up international support for the move and pave the way for the Palestinians to secure full membership status with east Jerusalem as its capital.

Over the past weekend, southern Israel has been under heavy rocket fire from Gaza, with more than 135 rockets hitting southern Israel communities. The Israel Defense Forces will not tolerate any attempt to harm Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers and will continue to operate with strength and determination against any element which uses terror against the State of Israel.
