2012 Southern California Theater Listings

Posted By on November 11, 2012

Every day actors and other artists arrive in Los Angeles, lured by the prospect of employment in film and television. And every day, it seems, another of these folks discovers one of Southern Californias best-kept secrets: its thriving year-round theater scene, which by our count regularly mounts more annual productions than New York, Boston, Chicago, and San Francisco combined. It remains a strong and growing community, even with the countrys economic downturn. Southern California theater has become a bona fide local industry, with increasing audiences and numbers of union contracts.

We at Back Stage have been doing our small part to support that industry with this annual theater guide, an indispensable listing of theaters, companies, and production services for theater professionals: playwrights, composers, directors, designers, and actors.

We hope you find this years edition useful. If you notice that anything in these listings is missing or incorrect, please email pete.keeley@backstage.com so we can get it right next time. Keep us posted about moves, closures, hires, firesand, of course, your opening nights.

Well see you at the theater.
