Kidz Planet brings whole new meaning to educational play

Bearing in mind the fact that the children of today seem to be so engrossed in technology such as computers and video games as entities of play, rather than actually spending time in a playground playing hide and seek and other types of active play, I was sincerely thrilled when I found out about Kidz Planet and the value addition this place had brought in terms of child development. Kidz Planet had been up and running for the past two months now and has unsurprisingly deemed a success.

The moment you hear the words Kidz Planet, you might think its probably some kind of children oriented theme park. Rather, the concept that the Founder of Kidz Planet, Farill Farook together with his wife Farzana Farook have worked together to bring about, is far more of an all-in-one package.

When Is say package, this would revolve on two aspects. The first point is that children up to their early teens can visit Kidz Planet which is located at Poorvarama Road in Colombo 05 with ample parking facilities and a child friendly atmosphere and staff. Children can enjoy a variety of role-play games that entails having fun enacting professions such as an engineer, doctor, postman, banker, pilot or construction worker while at the same time getting to experience an educational benefit.

The second point is that the activities available at the centre is attributed in a number of affordable packages where parents can drop their children at Kidz Planet and later, pick them up; giving the adult a peace of mind knowing that their children are in safe hands.

We have evolved Kidz Planet as a haven for kids with the idea of educating young minds in a fun and innovative way. We commenced on this venture with the sole aim of helping to develop a childs mental development and bring out the potential in that child where they will be given the opportunity to select a career path that they wish to become in later life, Farill said.

Farill and his wife were based in the USA and the experiences garnered during their life in the States, gave them the additional insight to come back home and initiate a unique purpose into societys root level focus.

The concept at Kidz Planet is to create real life scenarios for children to play in, with skill and activity based indoor and outdoor play area. A miniature city with different occupations where children can engage in role playing is how they intend to achieve this. The centre has possibly every single occupation one could think of, which would stimulate the childs mind, spark interest in the different roles available to them and teach them the importance of each of these roles.
