Fred Neulander, the former senior rabbi of a Cherry Hill synagogue who promised to pay $30,000 for two hitmen to kill his wife so he could pursue an affair with a local radio personality, has died. Neulander was found nonresponsive by correctional police officers Wednesday in an infirmary unit where hed been housed in New Jersey State Prison in Trenton, according to a statement released Friday afternoon by the New Jersey Department of Corrections. Staff immediately administered CPR and applied an automated external defibrillator, then transported Neulander by Trenton EMS to Capital Health Regional Medical Center

As Sam Cooke first sang in 1964, A change is gonna come. Change indeed is approaching for the two Reform communities Rodef Shalom Congregation and Temple Sinai in Pittsburghs eastern neighborhoods. Rabbi Sharyn Henry announced plans earlier this month to retire on June 30, 2025, after 26 years of service at Rodef Shalom.

Shir Ami Reform Synagogue of Newtown collected 31,174 pounds of food for eight local hunger relief agencies during 2023. Not only does this collection help people experiencing food insecurity, it also supports the synagogues Code Blue initiative, where the congregation housed homeless persons overnight during extremely cold nights in the month of December.
