VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) Water bottles, shampoo, food and inspirational messages, these are the kinds of things students from three local elementary schools are putting together to hand out Wednesday in the Downtown Eastside.

Students from Vancouvers Talmud Torah, Burnabys Ismaili Centre and St. Augustines Elementary are all taking part, with Tim Hortons providing the food.

I think doing it with the other schools makes a bigger impact. If Jews and Muslims can work together, why cant the world. I just think that is so inspiring.

Teacher Shoshana Burton is helping the kids put them together. So many kids got inspired by the concept, its just beyond belief. Weve had hundreds and hundreds of bags pouring into the school by kids who are so inspired by the message.

2000 care packages in all will be handed out in the Downtown Eastside.
