Catholic sessions to address after life

Padre Serra Parish will present a talk: In Whom Do You Hope? For What Do You Hope? What youve always wanted to know about Heaven, Hell and Purgatory. During two sessions Tuesday and May 13, Paul F. Ford, professor of systematic theology and liturgy at St. Johns Seminary, will speak about what the Bible and the churchs teaching about life after death.

Hospitality will begin at 7 p.m. followed by the program at 7:30 p.m. at the churchs Serra Center, 5025 Upland Road, Camarillo.

Congregation hosts upcoming events

In honor of the Sephardic-Jewish culture, Congregation Bnai Emet will celebrate Fiesta Shabbat Friday. The evening will begin with a potluck dinner at 6:30 p.m. followed by the service, led by Rabbi Michele Paskow, at 8 p.m. Cantor Michael Russ and the congregation choir will sing Sabbath prayers in Sephardic melodies.

On May 13 at 7 p.m., two representatives from the Anti-Defamation League will talk about the roots of anti-Semitism and the new anti-Semitism that has emerged today.

The speakers will lead the group in interactive activities designed to empower and equip the Jewish community with constructive and effective responses to anti-Semitic incidents and persistent anti-Semitic stereotypes.
