A reconstitution of the food festival celebrated for a few years nearly a decade ago, this years event is a celebration of Jewish food from many parts of the globe, said organizer Marsha Kreiger.

The art and food festival will take place Nov. 16 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Temple Israels new home, 91 Springside Drive.

At last years art festival, the Sisterhood sold pastries, Kreiger said.

The artists said we were missing out by not focusing on our ethnic culture with food, Kreiger said. So we are bringing back the Jewish food festival.

Food is a great medium for bringing people together, Kreiger said. She hopes members of the community will come to sample the food and enjoy the culture and leave with a better understanding of the people who made it.

I hope people will come in and meet us and get to know us, she added.

While Kreiger said people are most familiar with Jewish food of Eastern European origin, all food is influenced by the region in which it is prepared, she added.

Cooking blends with where you are, she said.

Religious cooking is no different, she said. Kreiger said she thought it was important to include Sephardic foods those with Middle Eastern, North African and Spanish influences.
